Live Blog: NCAA Football - No. 20 Boise State at BYU

Tanner Mangum and the BYU Cougars (1-0) have another upset on their mind after already tossing a wrench into Nebraska's plans last week. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Ryan Findley and Boise State (1-0) will do their best to spoil BYU's plans, even though they'll have to do it on a field not painted as blue. Is it weird to anyone else that BYU's coach is named "Bronco" and he's leading his team against the Broncos? Just me? Ok. The game is on ESPN 2 at 10:15 p.m. Stay up late with me and watch it.

Live Blog: Thursday Night Football - Steelers at Patriots

It's opening night of the NFL season and we get a match-up of two AFC power teams on Thursday night. The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers will both be without their starting running backs due to suspensions, but Tom Brady is still playing. We'll see how much that matters. Live Blog: PBC Boxing - Trout vs Hernandez

We get two PBC Boxing shows in four days. This time the main event is Austin Trout (29-2, 16 KOs) taking on Joey Hernandez (24-3-1, 14 KOs). The undercard is Jorge Lara (27-0, 19 KOs) against Jesus Rojas (21-1, 15 KOs). The show is on Fox Sports 1 at 9 p.m. Watch it with me.

Live Blog: NCAA Football - No. 1 Ohio State at Virginia Tech

We still don't know who Ohio State's quarterback will be, but we do know he will be good. J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones could both see action for the Buckeyes as they try to avenge the only loss they suffered in 2014. Hokies QB Michael Brewer led his team to that 35-21 win last year so he knows what to do against this defense. He'll have to score with an OSU juggernaut that has only gotten more explosive with moving Braxton Miller to wide receiver. For a Monday night college football showcase, you couldn't ask for much better than this. Kick off is 8 p.m. on ESPN. Watch it with me.

Live Blog: PBC Boxing on CBS - Dirrell vs Rubio

Our main event is Anthony Dirrell (27-1-1, 22 KOs) vs Marco Antonio Rubio (59-7-1, 51 KOs) in a fight that should be like to hammers banging together. Before that we have Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KOs) vs Tomoki Kameda (31-1-0, 19 KOs) for McDonnell's WBA World bantemweight title. The show is on CBS at 4 p.m.

Live Blog: NCAA Football - Arkansas State at No. 8 USC

With Stanford's loss and Oregon's defense looking like a sieve, is it time to USC to make a statement. Will they make that statement all over Arkansas State? Almost certainly. Cody Kessler is the big name QB this year for a reason. Steve Sarkasian is just glad football season's started so everyone can forget about his drunken rants in the offseason. This is a money game for Arkansas State, but make no mistake, the Red Wolves can play offense. Last year they averaged 476.5 yards per game. Senior QB Fredi Knighton threw for 3,277 yards and 24 touchdowns last season with just seven picks and two of his favorite targets, Tres Houston and Dijon Paschal are back so don't be surprised if this one is close for a while. The game is on the PAC 12 Network at 11 p.m. Stay up late with me and watch it.

Live Blog: NCAA Football - No. 21 Stanford at Northwestern

It's the season opener for the Stanford Cardinal and they get a chance to show that last season was just aberration in their recent resurgence. Senior Kevin Hogan is in the glamour position at QB for the Cardinal and will get to show off his arm against a Northwestern team trying to get back into the national picture after two consecutive 5-7 seasons. Clayton Thorson gets his shot to lead the Wildcats at quarterback as a redshirt freshman and his name alone is awesome enough to make that decision make sense. The game is on ESPN at noon.

Live Blog: NFL Preseason - Cardinals at Raiders on CBS

It's the second game of our Sunday doubleheader. The Arizona Cardinals make a short trip to Oakland to take on the Raiders. Derek Carr and Amari Cooper continue working on their chemistry in the preseason while the Cardinals just hope that one of their top two quarterbacks can make it to the postseason. The game begins at 8 p.m. on CBS. Let's make this dream real!

Live Blog: NFL Preseason - Texans at Saints

Newly minted Houston Texans starting quarterback Brian Hoyer brings his team to New Orleans to face Drew Brees as the Saints for at least a full half of football today. We've got a few subplots to this one. Obviously, this is the 10-year anniversary of Hurrican Katrina so you expect somebody to mention that. The Saints spent the offseason shedding offensive weapons, so everybody looking to draft Brandin Cooks has their fingers crossed. And if you've already drafted him, you've probably written a pretty big check to the Pope. Ryan Mallett responded to his demotion with Houston by sleeping in this week. You'd think a guy like that would want to show the Texans that they made a mistake. This will be his chance. The game is on Fox at 4 p.m. Let's watch it together. I'll try to make some jokes when I can.

Live Blog: Boxing - Mosley vs Mayorga and PBC on ESPN

Too much boxing happening tonight, so we'll focus on the biggest fight of the night and go from there. Shane Mosely (47-9-1, 39 KOs), just a few days away from his 44th birthday will take on Ricardo Mayorga (31-8-1, 25 KOs) in a fight that was huge back when my daughter was six years old. She's 13 now. They'll be at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Over on ESPN, we've got the super bantamweights with Leo Santa Cruz (30-0-1, 17 KOs) putting his undefeated record and WBC world title on the line against Albert Mares (29-1-1, 15 KOs) in the main event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Both shows begin at 10 p.m. I'll be watching both at once, so maybe some of this will make sense.
