Live Blog: Boxing on CBS Sports Net - Gutierrez vs Brock

We're staying up late on the east coast tonight for boxing, with a prospect show and a lightweight title on the line. In the main event Demond Brock (11-3-1, 4 KOs) defends his WBC United States lightweight title against undefeated Jesus Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 KOs) at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center in, you guessed it, Las Vegas. It's a two-hour show with some short undercards. The primary is a middleweight fight between Rolando Garza (8-0, 6 KOs) against Erasmo Garcis (5-0-1, 3 KOs) in a fight that could pretty much determine the next year or so of each guy's life. The show starts at 11 p.m. EST. We'll pick up the action when the second fight starts. Watch it with me.

Live Blog: HBO Boxing - Vargas vs Salido

A full weekend of boxing concludes with a second title fight. Tonight on HBO Francisco Vargas (23-0-1, 17 KOs) defends his super featherweight title against Orlando Salido (43-13-3, 30 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. In the undercard Julian Ramirez (16-0, 8 KOs) will face off against Abraham Lopez (20-0-1, 15 KOs) in a battle of real up-and-coming prospects. The fight is on HBO at 10:30 p.m. We have a Premier Boxing Champions show on at roughly the same time, so your attention will be split. The title makes all the difference. We'll also be getting plenty of well-deserved tributes for Muhammad Ali. HBO will probably find a way to make us all cry.

Live Blog: PBC Boxing on Spike - Barthelemy vs Bey

Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) returns to Spike TV tonight and we get title fight as the main event. Rances Barhelemy (24-0, 13 KOs) will put his IBF World Lightweight Title on the line against Mickey Bey (22-1-1, 10 KOs) in Hollywood, Fla. The primary undercard Emmanuel Rodriguez (14-0, 10 KOs) puts his undefeated record on the line against Albert Guevara (24-2, 9 KOs). The show is on Spike TV at 9 p.m. Watch it with me.

Live Blog: Boxing on CBS Sports Net - Mosley vs Avanesyan

Sugar Shane Mosley's comeback won't be complete with a victory tonight, but it will come with a belt. Specifically, the interim WBA World Welterweight title. Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KOs) will face off against David Avanesyan (21-1-1, 11 KOs) in Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. This is the third fight for Mosley since he "retired" back in 2013. He's won both his previous two fights by KOs and even picked up a WBA Continental Super Welterweight belt in the process. CBS Sports Net has set aside two hours so that means at least three fights. The undercard is Victor Castro (16-0, 7 KOs) taking on Carlos Zatarain (6-2-2, 3 KOs). The fight is on CBS Sports Net. I know there's a Premier Boxing Champions show happening at the same time, but Mosley is the draw that interests me tonight. Watch it with me at 10:30 p.m.

Live Blog: Boxing on CBS Sports Net - Miller vs Guivas

Last week we got some of the worst boxing televised in probably a decade on CBS Sports Net's Sports Spectacular. Will today be any different? We'll see. At the very least we'll have the interim WBO NABO Heavyweight Title up for grabs when Jarrell Miller (16-0-1, 14 KOs) takes on Nick Guivas (12-3-2, 9 KOs) at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino in Niagra Falls, N.Y. The primary undercard looks like it'll be Harmonito Dela Torre (17-0, 12 KOs) fights jobber Guillermo Sanchez (15-18-1, 6 KOs). They'll probably throw at least one more fight at us and I'll get the details as it goes. The show is on CBS Sports Net at 9 p.m. Tomorrow you're going to have the tough boxing viewing choice with Sugar Shane Mosley trying his comeback on CBS Sports Net and Fox Sports 1 showing Premier Boxing Champions. Not tonight. Watch this one with me.

Live Blog: Showtime Boxing - Lara vs Martirosoyan

Three fights, three titles on the line. Tonight Showtime Boxing gives us three and half hours of legit boxing with the main event of Erislandy Lara (22-2-2, 13 KOs) defends his IBO World Super Welterweight title and WBA Super Welterweight title against Vanes Martirosyan (36-2-1, 21 KOs). In the primary undercard Jermall Charlo (23-0, 18 KOs) will defend is IBF World Super Welterweight title against Austin Trout (30-2, 17 KOs). Charlo's brother Jermell (27-0, 12 KOs) will fight for the vacant WBC World Super Middleweight title against John Jackson (20-2, 15 KOs). The fights are on Showtime. They start at 9 p.m. I'll be liveblogging around 10 p.m. Watch it with me.

Live Blog: Boxing on CBS Sports Net

I'm not sure how much quality we'll get out of the "opponents," but it's still going to be boxing. CBS Sports Network has set aside two hours for a boxing show on a Friday night, which means we should get at least three televised fights. From the looks of the card, the main event is a welterweight fight between Emmanuel Robles (14-0-1, 4 KOs) vs. first-class palooka Gerardo Cuevas (17-15-1, 15 KOs) in Tucson, Ariz. Cuevas is such an unknown, beatable opponent that Boxrec doesn't even have a photo of him to use on his page. That will be an eight-round fight. We should get six-round fight from junior lightweights Keenan Carbajal (10-2-1, 5 KOs) taking on Lorenzo Trejo (35-31-1, 22 KOs). Heavyweight Trent Rawlins (3-0, 3 KOs) will face off against David Mbah (1-3, 1 KO). This night on CBS Sports is all about introducing up and coming talent and giving them a shot to fight on TV. These opponents are complete garbage. Let's watch these horrible fights. Chances are it will be fun. The show begins on CBS Sports Net at 11 p.m.

Live Blog: PBC Boxing on FS1 - Gassiev vs Shimmell

We get a 200-pound world title eliminator with the return of Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays on Fox Sports 1 tonight when unbeaten Murat Gassiev (22-0, 17 KOs) takes on Jordan Shimmell (20-1, 16 KOs) with a shot at the title on the line. The Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minn. will host the fight for Premier Boxing Champions. The winner of this fight will fight the winner of the unification bout between Denis Lebedev and Victor Emilio Ramirez in Moscow. Fox Sports 1 has two hours set aside for the show so we'll likely get at least one undercard. It looks like that will be a six-round heavyweight fight between Stephan Shaw (6-0, 5 KOs) and Danny Kelly (9-2-1, 8 KOs) in what will serve as an introduction for Shaw to a national audience. The show is on Fox Sports 1 at 9 p.m. Let's watch some faces get mashed together.

Live Blog: ShoBox Boxing on Showtime - Tabiti vs Tapia

Three hours of up-and-coming prospects will beat each other senseless tonight as ShoBox: The Next Generation returns to Showtime. In the main event Andrew Tabiti (12-0, 11 KOs) takes on Keith Tapia (17-0, 11 KOs) in Las Vegas. In the primary undercard, we'll see Michael Hunter (11-0, 8 KOs) fights Isiah Thomas (15-0, 6 KOs). Some men are taking their first losses tonight. The show starts at 10 p.m. on Showtime. Let's watch.

Live Blog: PPV Boxing - Khan vs Alvarez

We've waiting all week for this one. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (46-1-1,. 32 KOs) defends his WBC Welterweight title against Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) in Las Vegas. They've tossed three fights at us before the main event and I'm blowing off two of them. I'll be picking up the live blog when the David Lemieux (34-3, 3 KOs) takes on Glen Tapia (23-2, 15 KOs) for the vacant WBO NABO middleweight title. The show is on Pay Per View. Pay to watch it... or, you know, it's the internet. It's the wild west out here.
