Mumbai Indians host the Kings XI Punjab at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam in match number 43 of IPL 9. Mumbai have won 4 of their last 5 matches and the team is high on confidence whereas Kings on the other hand, have been marred by off-field controversies where reports have appeared in the media of a rift in the team to the team co-owner Preity Zinta lashing out at coach Sanjay Bangar. Murali Vijay and Co. will have to overcome all that and motivate themselves to fight it out against MI despite this game bearing no impact on their future in the league. Expect Mumbai to come on top, not just for the form but they have definitely found the winning combination. The Sunrisers Hyderabad hosts the Delhi Daredevils at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad today in the 42nd match of IPL 9. Sunrisers are on a roll and just a win away from becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs. They have 14 points at the moment and will definitely fancy their chances playing at home. For Delhi they need to get done with the changes in the XI and field the best XI. DD were in a really good position but made a lot more changes than called for and paid for it with a couple of defeats to the bottom placed team, they would now want to get back the winning momentum and set their eyes on the playoffs. It won’t be an easy task to defeat SRH at home but Delhi has the firepower in both the departments to do it.

Bangalore have the momentum with them after a close and boosting win against the Rising Pune Supergiants the other night riding on a brilliant century by skipper Virat Kohli. Mumbai on the other hand would want to win this one and keep their hope of playoff qualification alive, this is also a must win game for RCB and the team winning this game will be in a far comfortable position on the points table. It will be an absolute belter at Chinnaswamy like it has been and with the bowling lineup MI has they clearly have an edge over the home team. No prices for guessing, teams would like to win the toss and bowl first.

In IPL 9, match no. 40 Rising Pune Supergiants host the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag, their second home ground. Sunrisers have most things sorted and are a couple of wins away from qualifying for the playoffs which is a certainty considering how well they have done thus far and the form. Supergiants at the other hand have big questions to answer, their batsmen have started to do well on a consistent basis, Ajinkya Rahane is their go-to man and has delivered more often than not, so has Saurabh Tiwary but their bowlers haven’t shown enough potential to defend totals they have been asked to and that continues to be the biggest concern. If Pune beat Hyderabad tonight, it sure will be an upset.

Both the teams KXIP and RCB are in a similar position, they lost a lot of games and now fear exit with another defeat in the coming matches though they won the last encounter it will be important to see if they have a squad that can push further to win all the following games. Punjab have been struggling to get their batting order together, when one fires others don’t and more often than not they have fell short by a not so significant margins. RCB have their share of woes as well but that is in the bowling department, led by Virat Kohli Bangalore has one of the strongest batting units but then their bowlers have let them down on almost all occasions and the safest option is to bowl first and chase the total put ahead.

The Kolkata Knight Riders host the Gujarat Lions in match no. 38 of IPL 9 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Kolkata is always a tough side playing at home and it will be interesting to see what strategy the Lions come out with. In the last couple of games their batting weakness has been exposed and since their top order- Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith and Suresh Raina failed to play a big knock the middle order crumbled to the pressure and they lost both the matches to bottom placed KXIP and RPS. KKR on the other hand are high after beating RCB in Bangalore and the Kings XI at home. It will be interesting to see how the Lions’ batsmen deal with the KKR spinners.

On the other hand, the confident Daredevils were beaten at home by their underwhelming opponents the Rising Pune Supergiants. On paper its DD who should prevail but looking at how things have panned out, Delhi won’t take their chances and would want to seal the game to inch closer to qualification.
