American government is wallowing in a sea of corruption. Currently, journalism is disintegrating as newsroom close and much of public life goes uncovered. Dr. Robert McChesney (Gutgsell Endowed Professor, Department of Communication, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) addresses how these two crises reinforce each other and demand simultaneous, and radical, attention in today's talk, "The Crisis of Democracy is a Crisis of Journalism: They Had a Past, But Do They Have a Future?"
