ULA Launch Conductor Scott Barney is at the helm of the launch team today in the Remote Launch Control Center, located about 6.5 miles (10.4 km) from the pad.
This is the 22nd Atlas launch that Barney has served as the mission's launch conductor. He's also been the primary LC for 20 Delta IV launches and a pair of Delta II missions.
A native of Marlton, New Jersey, he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to major in aeronautical studies and interned with McDonnell Douglas at its Titusville missile plant as an associate test engineer.
Following graduation in 1987, he started working for McDonnell Douglas on the space shuttle payloads team. He transferred to the Delta IV team as a launch conductor in 2000 and has worked every single mission to date.
