All is set for today's staging of the UTech Classic which will be held inside the National Stadium starting at 4:00 p.m. The organisers have promised a quality meet with an exciting package lasting just over three hours. While there are some interesting clashes in individual events the 4x100 metres will take centre stage. In the women's event, hot schoolgirl team Edwin Allen, after their splendid record-breaking 44.17 seconds to win the Class One event at 'Champs' will be hoping to become the first local schoolgirl quartet to go under 44 seconds. Their main rivals are UTech, the fastest female quartet this year with 43.84, Sprintec and MVP. After seeing four teams go under 39 seconds at the Gibson Relays, another megaclash is set for the men's 4x100m. The star-studded Racers Track Club should parade Yohan Blake, Warren Weir and Kemar Bailey Cole and will start favourites. However, they will have to be at their best to overcome the Andrew Fisher-led UTech and the Nesta Carter-led MVP. Top high-school male and female teams will face the starter in the 4x100m, 4x400m and 4x800m as they look to warm up for the Penn Relays. World Championships 200m silver medallist Warren Weir will line up in the men's 100m. Weir will compete in his second 100m this season, following his successful debut in month of February at the UWI Invitational. Weir who will compete in the first of three heats is against teammate Michael Frater, Akan Track club's Oshane Bailey and Sprintec's Everton Clarke. HEAT TWO Heat Two should also be competitive as the Akan track club duo of Dexter Lee and Jason Livermore will match strides with UTech's Tyquendo Tracy and Cameron Blazers' Marvin Anderson. World Championships 4ax100m gold medallist Carrie Russell of MVP and Schillone Calvert of Racers should have a battle royal in the women's 100m.
